Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Friday 18th November it is Children in Need and we will once again be supporting this amazing charity with a dress down day and a book swap.
We would like the children to come to school in either their pyjamas or lounge wear (joggers/leggings, hoodies etc.). We will all be in our comfy clothes so we can snuggle down and enjoy our stories together. If you are able to make a donation we will be doing this through parent pay via this link or you are able to bring in a cash donation on the day.

Thank you for your support!
We are delighted to be able to relaunch our Junior Saving scheme whereby children can open an account and start saving/managing their pocket money. On opening an account, children will be given a Junior Savers Passbook which they will bring with them on a Thursday morning when they want to deposit or withdraw money.
For information on how to open an account please see the Parent Hub post or contact the school office.
The School Bank will be open every Thursday morning between 8.15am and 8.45am starting from 15th September. This is a fantastic way to give your child some ownership of their pocket money, and to encourage them to save for treats that they may want.

Be creative, have fun and good luck!
Many thanks,
Mrs Cresswell.
This year we were invited to take part in Chesterfield In Bloom which is a local art competition.
This year’s brief was based around Climate Change with a floral focus on bees as pollinators.
Every year group and class took part in this competition and produced some beautiful artwork. This is now exhibited in our school hall.
We are very proud of all the children who entered and we are delighted to inform you that Arielle in Class 2 has been awarded 2nd place.
Arielle’s work has been printed and is now exhibited outside the Town Hall in Chesterfield alongside the other winners form other Chesterfield schools.
Well done Arielle and all of the artists at Hasland Infant School. We are so proud of you all!

Dear Parents/Carers,
Please take time today to check the safety settings on any device used by your children. In particular, please check that the search settings on Skype are secure and remove any photograph which would further identify your child. Please be vigilant and keep your children safe online.
Your sincerely
Mrs Wain
Headteacher
Lockdown Art Competition!
The theme for this competition is ‘A view from my window’.
This means you can use ANY media (pencils, crayons, pastels, paint, collage, clay, etc) to create a piece of artwork which represents the view from your window.
You could create a representation of:
- The actual view from your window.
- An imaginary view from your window (e.g. a window into your dreams)
- The view you want for the future when you look out of the window.
It is completely up to you what you want to create! I think this theme is perfect for this competition as we are all spending more time at home and there are so many different views from our own windows.
Please email pictures of your art work to: s.cresswell@hasland-inf.derbyshire.sch.uk
or drop the artwork off at school when it is open. Once we have received all of the entries we will create an exhibition in the school hall for anyone in school to enjoy and we will of course share images with you all via our website and parent hub. (Competition will close on Friday 26th February)
There will be a winner chosen from each year group (Nursery – Year 2) and prizes will be awarded!
There will also be 2 extra prizes – one for the best submission from a grown up at home and one for the best submission from a member of staff at Hasland Infant and Nursery school. This means everyone can get involved, no matter how young or old!
Some suggested steps for getting started:
1. Start sketching and gathering some ideas and views from your window, looking at composition (positioning) and a subject or view that interests you.
2. Think about whether you want to include the window frame or not.
3. Does your view change depending on the position you stand?
4. Think about what might make your picture more exciting.
5. What will be the best media to use to create what you have in mind? (If it is something very detailed, maybe a sharp pencil, if it is something like a large landscape, maybe pastels?)
6. Think about colour and if you want to include it or not. This might depend on the weather!
7. Think about the fact that sometimes ordinary objects can create a very interesting subject.
8. Let your imaginations loose.
9. It doesn’t have to be done in one sitting, you might complete this over a period of time.
10. Everyone has their own style, there is no ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ when it comes to art and being creative.
