Online Safety

At Hasland Infant School, helping children stay safe online is an important part of our commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.

We help children learn how to use technology safely and responsibly. They are taught to make sensible choices online, be kind and respectful to others, protect their personal information, and understand what to do if something doesn't feel right.

We promote a strong culture of online safety through the use of the SMART Rules.

Children are regularly reminded to Stay Safe, never Meet online contacts, Ask First before clicking, question whether information is Real or Pretend, and always Tell a trusted adult if something online causes concern. These principles underpin our approach to keeping children safe in the digital world.

We encourage all children to speak to a trusted adult if they see or experience anything online that worries them, upsets them, or makes them feel uncomfortable. We also welcome parents and carers to contact us if they have any concerns about online safety or would like advice and support.

By working together with families, we can help children develop safe online habits and make the most of the opportunities that technology provides.

To support parents and carers, we have included a selection of trusted online safety resources below. We hope you find these links useful in helping your child stay safe and make positive choices online.

IVengers

As a school we have an online safety group called the 'I-Vengers!'.

Each class has an online safety ambassador who comes to meetings and helps the school progress in our online safety development.

Online safety mascot

Our Online Safety Mascot was developed with the support of our school I-Vengers team.

As pupil digital leaders, the I-Vengers shared ideas about what the mascot should represent and how it could help children remember important online safety messages.

The mascot now plays a key role in promoting our SMART Rules and encouraging safe, responsible use of technology across the school.
