Behaviour

At Hasland Infant and Nursery School, we believe that every child can succeed in an environment where positive behaviour is expected, encouraged and celebrated. Positive relationships, kindness and respect are at the heart of helping every child feel valued, supported and ready to learn.

Our SMILE expectations underpin our approach to behaviour and provide children with a clear understanding of how we learn, behave and treat others. Our SMILE expectations show that we are:

  • S - Successful Learners
  • M - Marvellous Manners
  • I - Independent Thinkers
  • L - Love of Learning
  • E - Everyone Matters

We celebrate positive behaviour every day. This includes:

  • Praise and encouragement from staff
  • Hasland Gem Team Points
  • SMILE Superstar of the Day
  • Kindness Hearts from Kevin our Kindness Bear
  • Our weekly Star of the Week Assembly

We understand that children sometimes need support to make the right choices, but we firmly believe that every child can be successful. We value our partnership with parents and carers and work closely together to ensure children receive clear and consistent messages about behaviour.

By promoting and celebrating our SMILE expectations every day, we help children understand what positive behaviour looks like, make positive choices, and feel safe, valued and ready to learn so that they can achieve their very best.
