Our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) programme is a key part of our commitment to supporting children's personal development and emotional wellbeing. Through tailored individual and small-group sessions, children are given opportunities to explore and understand their emotions, develop resilience, build positive relationships, and grow in confidence within a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.
ELSA aims to equip children with the emotional literacy skills they need to understand and manage their feelings, cope with challenges, and respond positively to everyday situations. By helping children overcome emotional barriers to learning, the programme enables them to develop effective coping strategies and strengthen their emotional wellbeing. This targeted provision helps children flourish both emotionally and academically, laying strong foundations for future success.
At Hasland Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. ELSA plays an important role in bringing this vision to life by helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence. By nurturing emotional wellbeing alongside academic achievement, we help children to embrace new opportunities, overcome obstacles and thrive throughout their educational journey.
