Phonics:

In phonics we are going to look at the ‘o’ spelling.    It can make two different sounds – oe and o.  E.g.      Bob,    both

Adult to dictate the sentence: The dog and the frog both went to the post box.

Say each word and give your child a chance to write that word. Then say the next word.  Ask them what do we start a sentence with?  What goes at the end?

See if your child can remember how to spell some high frequency words: what, where, who, there, their, these

Maths:

We are learning to name, recognise and describe 2D shapes.

If you have 2D shapes put them in a bag and ask your child these questions: I have 4 sides they are all the same size. What am I? I have 3 sides they do not have to be the same length. What am I? I have 5 sides that are flat. What am I? I look like the sun. What am I?

If you do not have these shapes then draw them with your child asking them to name and describe it while they are drawing.  Then cut them out, put them in a bag and ask the above questions.

Challenge: Swap roles so your child has to describe the shape to you.

Extra shape sheet attached for more work.

Playtime:

Play with your favourite toy.

Literacy:

Today you are going to make and award yourself a trophy (see attachment).  Think of something you deserve a trophy for since lockdown.

For example: Something you have learnt to do (ride a bike), Something you have got better at (reading), Something you have helped your family do (decorate), the way you have dealt with this situation.

Write it on the trophy and then paint, colour, decorate the trophy in gold.  You could add glitter, sparkles or anything else you want.  Cut it out and be proud!

Lunch:

Wash your hands and help your grown up to prepare your sandwich.

Science:

We are learning about staying safe around electricity.  Look at the powerpoint attached and make a safety poster.  Remember a poster needs to be bright, bold and colourful with helpful information.
