Year 2 – Home Learning Activities – Week Commencing 29.6.2020
Good Morning everybody! I hope that you are all well. I’m really missing seeing you all at school and I can’t wait until we are all back together! I have created a list of activities for you do this week. I will be putting these on each day so remember to check the website! I hope you have lots of fun doing these!

Phonics: In phonics this week, let’s look at the ‘i’ sound. It can be spelt in different ways. These include i, ui, e and y. Here are some words with these spellings. Sort them into the different spellings ready to use later on in the week. (This could be a table with different columns.)

Maths: Count forwards and backwards in 5’s starting from 0.
Our number of the week is 18. What do you know about this number? Tell your grown up or create a mind map like we do in school.

You could include money, time, drawings, Roman Numerals, base 10, numicon, the 18th letter in the alphabet is ‘R’.
You can make it as creative as you like and display it on your wall!

Last week we were looking at the book ‘The Smeds and The Smoos’ by Julia Donaldson.
Read the book again (real book or online) and discuss the story with your grown-ups as you go! (There is a questions ‘prompt’ sheet for parents/carers to refer to attached. These are the sort of questions we would be discussion in our guided reading sessions in school.)
Please complete the reading comprehension sheet attached.
Wash your hands and help your grown up to prepare your lunch.
