Phonics:

In phonics this week, we are looking at the ‘i’ sound.  It can be spelt in different ways.  These include i, ui, e, y.

Today we are going to look at our Year 2 Common exception words. (Copy attached.)

Zog has sent you a letter but he has spelled lots of common exception words incorrectly. Can you find these words and correct him? (Sheet to record this attached.)

Maths: Count forwards and backwards in  your chosen multiple (1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, 10’s)

This week we have been practising telling the time. We have also solved some tricky problems!

Today we would like you to do one of two things.

Activity 1 – If you have not already done so, create a poster all about time! This could include lots of great information to help someone tell the time if they don’t already know. You could include how many seconds are in a minute, how many minutes in an hour and how many hours are in a day. You could also include information about weeks, months and years!

Activity 2 – have a go at the challenge cards (attached) Have fun putting everything you know about time into action!

Playtime:

Say your playground promise and play in your garden.

Literacy:

Yesterday you thought about what makes a good character. What character did you create? Today we would like you to write a character profile about your characters. Have another look at the mind map you created and use some of your fantastic ideas. Today our writing needs to include interesting openers (Can you believe...,  You should know that...) conjunctions (as, so, but, however, because) adjectives (interesting, adventurous, courageous, fun, brave) and different punctuation (exclamation marks, commas, question marks.)

Have fun writing about and exploring your very own character! Maybe one day we will see this charater in one of your own books!

Lunch:

Wash your hands and help your grown up to prepare your lunch.

DT/Textiles

Today I would like you to have a go at making your puppet.

Use your plan and all the materials and instruments you gathered from yesterday and get making! You might need your grown-ups to help you. You could have a go at bringing your character to life when it is complete by getting him/her/it to speak! Have fun!
