Parent Open Afternoon

All our year 2 children were very excited on Friday 5th February to welcome their grownups to their classrooms to tell them all about the work we have been doing in this half term's topic, 'Around the UK'. Parents and carers were invited in for half an afternoon to talk to the children about what they have been learning and to have a go at some different activities.

All the year 2 classes had a great turn out for the open afternoon and the grownups were asked to give us some feedback. Here are some of the things that they said:

"It was wonderful to be able to see how the pupils worked together and how readily they took part in the jobs. To be honest I would have liked to stay longer!"

"It was great to get an insight into the different topics the children have been learning about."

"It was lovely to see what the children had been doing and to be able to work with the children. A great way to get parents involved. Please do it again."

"I enjoyed it. It was nice to see how much pride the children took in showing the parents all the different activities."

"We had fun and enjoyed the afternoon. You have to do it again!"

The grownups and children loved looking through their literacy books to see how much we have learnt since the beginning of year 2.

We played our very own London board games which included iconic landmarks such as the 'Houses of Parliament' and 'The London Eye'.

We designed our own map of a fantasy island including all the features a map needs, such as a key and a compass.

We worked together to build famous landmarks from London using construction materials. Which landmark do you think this is?

Our grownups had no chance of winning in our children versus adults UK quiz thanks to all the facts we have learnt this half term.

 Refreshments were available.....
