Comments from our parent phonic session:
The session was very interactive and all children joined in.
I found the session very useful an it taught me techniques that I can use with my child at home.
It was lovely to see all the children so engaged and taking part in the phonics session.
It was useful to find out about the Jolly phonics rhymes and actions.
On Friday 7th December our school choir attended Hardwick Hall to sing Christmas Carols. They sang beautifully and we're all very proud of their performance. Please take a look at our pictures.
On Tuesday 28th November the children arranged a party to celebrate the arrival of Abas. Abas is a little boy from the book 'There's a boy just like you' that the children read during friendship week. They wrote invitations to Abas and their friends and made sandwiches and buns for the party. Everyone had a great time at the party !
Year 2 have enjoyed learning about nocturnal animals this term and have found out lots of interesting things. Each child built their very own hedgehog house, and invited their parents/carers into school to share this experience with them.
Outstanding Otters and Super Squirrels built their hedgehog house on Monday 22nd October and Fantastic Foxes and Marvellous Moles built their hedgehog houses on Tuesday 23rd October.
Thank you to everyone who attended and for your continuing support. The children had an amazing time and are very proud of their work. The feedback we received from parents was very positive
Please find the slides attached from our New to Year 1 meeting. We hope you find this useful.
Royal Wedding Celebrations - May 2018
On Friday 18th May our school celebrated the Royal Wedding by having our own special tea party outside.
During our celebration we sang the National Anthem and our choir also performed beautifully.
Science Week - April 2018
Our school celebrated science week with the theme 'Exploration and Discovery'. During the week each year group learnt about difference areas of science. It was an amazing week and great fun was had by all!
We were able to welcome Mr Queenie, our local STEM ambassador, and his team to school to deliver creative Science workshops in Key Stage 1. Year 1 made and launched their own rockets and Year 2 made balloon powered cars which they raced against each other. There were also many exciting activities happening in Nursery and Reception from colour changes, investigating bubbles to looking at magnets and static electricity!
Year 2 also did a mini project called 'The Plastic Tide' where they investigated the impact plastic is having on our oceans.
A very big thank you to parents and carers, staff and the wonderful pupils of Hasland Infant School for making Science Week 2018 such as success. We eagerly look forward to next year's celebration.
